Stand-Up Comedy Fundamentals

The Stand-Up Comedy Fundamentals class introduces students to the foundational skills needed to build out a 5-minute Open Mic Night set. Through discussions, examples, and practice, students will explore the skills and concepts needed to write jokes, build out content, workshop jokes, and perform in a way that ties everything together for a more crafted set. Join our next class so you can explore the building blocks of Stand-Up Comedy, and get a good system for building out sets, so that your Open Mic Nights won't be painful or awkward, but more practiced, prepared, and professional.

Who's this Class for?

  • People who are just starting their Stand-Up Comedy journey, and want to learn how to successfully write their early jokes in a systematic way

  • People who have done a few Open Mic Nights, but want to learn a system that makes it more prepared and polished, and less "spray & pray" 

  • People who want to have a consistent style and/or want to build out their content to be more consistently funny

  • Anyone who's curious about the fundamentals of Stand-Up, where to start, and what makes Stand-Up Comedians funny!

  • Anyone in Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Knightdale, or any other areas surrounding RDU that wants to learn how to write jokes!

  • ​This is a 5-week course with each session being 2 hours
